... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Saturday evening...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of central Missouri...
south central Missouri and southwest Missouri... including the
following areas... in central Missouri... Camden... Hickory and
Pulaski. In south central Missouri... Howell... Oregon...
Shannon and Texas. In southwest Missouri... Barry... Cedar...
Christian... Dade... Dallas... Douglas... Greene... Laclede...
Lawrence... Ozark... Polk... stone... Taney... Webster and Wright.

* Through Saturday evening

* multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected today and
tomorrow. This rain will be falling on saturated or nearly
saturated soil... resulting in an increased risk for flash
flooding.

* Small streams... creeks... and area rivers will be especially
susceptible to flash flooding. Those floating or camping on or
near area rivers should be alert for rapid rises of water levels.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Statement as of 4:44 PM CDT on May 29, 2015

... Significant weather advisory for Lawrence and northern Barry
counties until 515 PM CDT...

At 441 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking
strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southwest of
Stotts City to 6 miles west of Wayne... moving northeast at 20 mph.
Penny size hail... and winds around 50 mph are expected with these
storms.

Locations impacted include Aurora... Cassville... Exeter... Miller...
Monett... Mount Vernon... Pierce City... Purdy... Verona and Wheaton.

Interstate 44 between mile markers 33 and 54 will also be impacted by
these storms.

Thunderstorms pose a variety of hazards to those outdoors... including
hail... strong winds that can create dangerous flying projectiles and
debris... as well as deadly cloud to ground lightning. If you are in
the path of these storms... move indoors to a sturdy shelter
immediately.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 PM CDT Friday evening for
southwest Missouri.
