* at 557 am CDT... Missouri Department of Transportation and various
public works departments reported that a number of roads remained
closed due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall Thursday night and
early Friday morning. Although rainfall has ended and additional
rainfall is not expected today... the areal flooding warning has
been extended to account for the large number of roads that remain
closed due to flooding of small creeks and streams.
This warning includes the cities of... Centralia... Columbia...
Fulton... Mexico... Monroe City... Montgomery City... Palmyra... Paris...
Santa Fe... Shelbina... Vandalia and Wellsville.
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

the Missouri River near Chamois
* from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday.
* At 7 PM Friday the stage was 11.8 (estimated) feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to rise above flood stage Sunday
afternoon... crest near 18.0 feet Monday morning and should fall
below flood stage Tuesday night.
* Impact... at 17.0 feet... flood stage... low lying bottom lands begin
to flood.

* at 800 PM CDT... Missouri Department of Transportation and local
law enforcement continue to report numerous Road closings due to
flooding caused by heavy rainfall during Thursday night and early
Friday morning. Even though the rain has largely ended for the
time being... the flooding is likely to continue through the night
on those roads currently closed.
This warning includes the cities of... Centralia... Columbia...
Fulton... Montgomery City and Wellsville.
A Flood Warning means flooding is occurring. Most flood related
deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered
bridges... dips... or low water crossings. Never try to cross a
flowing stream... even a small one... on foot.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
