The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued an
* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
eastern Wyandotte County in northeast Kansas...
northeastern Johnson County in east central Kansas...
southwestern Clay County in west central Missouri...
western Jackson County in west central Missouri...
* until 1130 am CDT
* at 812 am CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with torrential rainfall across the advisory area.
Rain gauge observations show that over one inch of rain was
falling in less than 15 minutes. Although the torrential rain will
last less than 30 minutes... rainfall rates of this magnitude will
quickly lead to urban flooding.
* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to
occur... especially along small streams and creeks... highways...
streets... underpasses and other urban areas. Some locations that
will experience minor flooding include... Blue
Springs... Courtney... Fairway... Grandview...
Greenwood... Independence... Kansas City... Kansas City Kansas...
