Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 3:46 PM CST on February 28, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CST
Sunday...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain remains in
effect until noon CST Sunday.

* Short term trends... moderate snow with embedded pockets of heavy
snow will continue across the Missouri Ozarks and extreme
southeast Kansas through sunset. Snowfall rates of around an
inch per hour can be expected within bands of heavy snow. Total
accumulations by dark will range from 1 to 3 inches over most
areas... with the heaviest amounts along and north of the
Interstate 44 corridor. Local amounts around 4 inches will be
possible in some areas by dark.

The snow is then expected to taper to light snow from west to
east across the area this evening. Mainly light snow and
flurries are then expected overnight and Sunday morning across
most of the Missouri Ozarks and extreme southeastern Kansas.
Some pockets of freezing drizzle or very light freezing rain
will be possible from later this evening into Sunday
morning... especially across southern Missouri and extreme
southeastern Kansas.

* Timing and areas affected... the Winter Weather Advisory is in
effect for extreme southeastern Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks
through Sunday morning.

* Snow accumulations... storm total accumulations from 1 to 3
inches can be expected across south central Missouri. 3 to 6
inches of snow can be expected along and north of the Interstate
44 corridor. Localized amounts up to 7 inches will be possible.

* Ice accumulations... a thin glaze of ice with amounts generally
less than five hundredths of an inch can be expected... mainly
across southern Missouri and extreme southeastern Kansas.

* Visibility... visibilities will frequently be reduced to less
than a mile and will reduced down to a quarter mile within
bands of heavy snow.

* Impacts... the combination of falling and accumulating snow as
well as a thin glaze of ice will make travel conditions
hazardous. The Kansas and Missouri departments of transportation
continue to report snow covered roadways along with numerous
slide offs and accidents.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and freezing
rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery
roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
