* Rain will change to a mix of light freezing rain and sleet this afternoon... before transitioning to all snow this evening and tonight.
* Minor ice accumulations will be possible this afternoon... with heavy sleet accumulations up to a half inch more likely through the late afternoon and evening. Precipitation will change over to snow later in the evening hours. After changing to snow tonight... total snow and sleet accumulations through Friday afternoon may be in the 5 to 9 inch range.
* Strong northwest to west winds will develop late this afternoon through Friday... with sustained winds possibly reaching 30 mph with higher gusts. This will create extensive blowing and drifting of snow and possibly near blizzard conditions.
* Travel may become extremely dangerous late this afternoon through Friday... with periods of heavy sleet and snow possible and significantly reduced visibilities. Persons planning on traveling for the Holiday should leave early or consider make alternative plans.
