Statement as of 10:53 PM CDT on July 06, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri... including the
following areas... in southeast Kansas... Bourbon... Cherokee
and Crawford. In Missouri... Barry... Barton... Benton...
Camden... Cedar... Christian... Dade... Dallas... Dent... Douglas...
Greene... Hickory... Jasper... Laclede... Lawrence... Maries...
McDonald... Miller... Morgan... Newton... Ozark... Phelps... Polk...
Pulaski... St. Clair... stone... Taney... Texas... Vernon...
Webster and Wright.

* Through Wednesday evening

* showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will increase tonight
and continue at times through Wednesday. Storm total rainfall
amounts between two and four inches are currently expected
across the watch area... with locally higher amounts possible.
The highest rainfall amounts through Wednesday are currently
expected to occur along and northwest of a line from Joplin to
Lake of The Ozarks.

* Soils are already saturated across the region... and many
creeks... streams and rivers are already running above normal.
This additional rainfall is expected to lead to flash flooding
of streams... flood prone areas... and low water crossings.
Flooding of larger main Stem rivers may also occur.

Those camping or floating along area streams and rivers should be
alert for rising water levels.

Rivers potentially impacted by flooding include the Osage... Marmaton... Spring
... Elk... James... and Gasconade.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
