Winter Weather Advisory | |

Statement as of 9:42 AM CST on December 25, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 PM CST this evening... ... Winter Storm Warning is cancelled... The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow... which is in effect until 6 PM CST this evening. The Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled. * Periods of light to occasionally moderate snow will continue across much of central and northeast Missouri through early this afternoon. An additional one to two inches of snow will be possible through early afternoon along and north of a Carrollton to Moberly line. * Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph will increase to 20 to 30 mph this morning... with occasional higher gusts. This will lead to considerable blowing snow... resulting in reduced visibilities occasionally below one half mile. Please use caution if traveling. * The strong winds... combined with temperatures in the teens will also produce bitterly cold wind chills between 0 and 10 below zero. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means dangerous winter weather conditions are occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will make travel extremely dangerous. If you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded... stay with your vehicle. |
