... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am CST early
this morning...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow remains in
effect until 6 am CST early this morning.
* Periods of light snow will continue across northeast Kansas as well
as northwest into north central Missouri through the early morning hours.
* Additional snowfall will be fairly light... with 1 to possibly 2
inches of new snow possible.
* Gusty westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph and higher gusts will persist
through the overnight hours. This will lead to additional blowing
and drifting of snow... resulting in reduced visibilities at
times... occasionally below one half mile... especially in the open
country where few obstructions exist. Snow drifts have been
reported in excess of three feet and some roads remain closed and
impassible in northwestern Missouri.
* The gusty winds... combined with temperatures in the teens will
also produce bitterly cold wind chills in the single digits
above and below zero.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means dangerous
winter weather conditions are occurring. Falling and blowing snow
with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will make
travel extremely dangerous. If you must travel... have a winter
survival kit with you. If you get stranded... stay with your vehicle.
