    Areal Flood Warning
    Sponsored by State Farm

Statement as of 3:24 PM CDT on July 24, 2008

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a

    * Flood Warning for...
    Adair County in northeast Missouri
Grundy County in north central Missouri
Harrison County in north central Missouri
Linn County in north central Missouri
Livingston County in north central Missouri
Macon County in north central Missouri
Mercer County in north central Missouri
northeastern Daviess County in north central Missouri
northern Chariton County in north central Missouri
northern Randolph County in north central Missouri
Putnam County in north central Missouri
Sullivan County in north central Missouri

    * until 330 PM CDT Friday

    * at 310 PM CDT... scattered showers and thunderstorms continued to
affect parts of north central and northeast Missouri. Rainfall
amounts since early this morning range from 2 to 4 inches
across much of the warned area... with isolated higher
amounts across extreme north central Missouri. Runoff from this
rainfall had flooded many roads across the area... with several
state highways reported closed. More rainfall is expected this
afternoon through the overnight hours. This will likely result
in additional flooding and Road closures.

    * Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur.
Some locations that will experience flooding include... Bethany...
Brookfield... Chillicothe... Kirksville... La Plata... Macon...
Marceline... Milan... Trenton... Unionville... Atlanta... Bevier...
    Browning... Bucklin and Cainsville.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur
in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges...
dips... or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream...
even a small one... on foot or in a vehicle.

    Flash Flood Watch
    Sponsored by State Farm

Statement as of 4:03 PM CDT on July 24, 2008

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7 PM CDT this evening through
    Friday morning...

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a

    * Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Missouri... north
central Missouri... northeast Missouri and northwest Missouri...
including the following areas... in central Missouri... Howard
and Saline. In north central Missouri... Carroll... Chariton...
Daviess... Grundy... Harrison... Linn MO... Livingston... Macon...
Mercer... Putnam... Randolph and Sullivan. In northeast
Missouri... Adair and Schuyler. In northwest Missouri...
    Gentry... Nodaway and Worth.

    * From 7 PM CDT this evening through Friday morning

    * a complex of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop this
evening over southwest Iowa and into northern Missouri. As the
evening progresses... this complex of storms is expected to
intensify and produce heavy rainfall across northern into north
central Missouri. One to two inches of rain... with isolated higher
amounts will be possible over the same area that has and continues
to experience flooding from heavy rainfall early on Thursday. This
additional heavy rainfall will pose a threat for flash flooding
where water levels are already running high.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain across the watch area... which may lead to flash flooding. If
you are in the watch area... check your preparedness
requirements... especially if you have interests along area
rivers. Keep informed... and be ready for action if flooding is
observed or if a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
