A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow remains in effect until
7 PM CDT Sunday.

* Timing and areas affected... light to moderate snow will persist
through the overnight period and into Sunday morning across
extreme southeast Kansas and portions of the western Missouri
Ozarks.

* Snow accumulations... storm total snow accumulations will range
from five to twelve inches... with the heaviest amounts occurring
over west central Missouri.

* Impacts... travel will be heavily impacted... likely becoming
dangerous across the warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... consider taking a winter storm
kit along with you. This kit should include such items as tire
chains... booster cables... a flashlight... shovel... blankets...
extra clothing and anything else that would help you survive in
case you become stranded.

Dallas County in southwest Missouri
Polk County in southwest Missouri
St. Clair County in west central Missouri

* until 145 am CDT Sunday

* at 740 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
a band of heavy precipitation that was training over parts of
southwest and central Missouri. Liquid precipitation amounts have
ranged from 1 to 2 inches within the warned area this afternoon
and this evening. Ground conditions are extremely
moist... therefore runoff of any additional precipitation will be
enhanced. Flooding of low lying areas near small streams and
creeks will likely occur... along with numerous low water
crossings.

* Flash flooding can be expected across the area... and will be
affecting Laurie... Warsaw... Versailles... Stover... Lincoln and Cole
Camp.

Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross
swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by
automobile.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

this rain... particularly over far southern Missouri... could be
heavy tonight.

* This heavy rainfall could cause flooding of small streams and
low water crossings... as well as main Stem rivers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

            Coop observer in Jericho Springs just measured six inches
            of snow accumulation.

Snow e4.0 inch, reported by law enforcement.


            Cedar County S.O. Relayed to the NWS that approximately
            four inches of snow has accumulated. They have responded
            to 13 vehicle accidents this afternoon.

            Around one inch of snow and sleet on the ground. All snow
            was occurring at time of report. Roads are reported to be
            slick.
