Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop across areas to the west and southwest of Kansas City during the pre dawn hours. This scattered activity will gradually be working further to the east and by 530 am...should be affecting areas as far east as a line from De Soto and Gardner Kansas...to Drexel and Butler Missouri. A brief period of heavy rain can be expected from the thunderstorms which are moving southeast at 30 mph. In addition...a line of stronger thunderstorms in north central Kansas will be moving east into northeast and east central Kansas by 7 am. These storms will be capable of producing frequent lightning and strong gusty winds along with heavy rain.
