A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow is in effect from 9 PM this evening until 6 PM CST Friday.
* Timing and areas affected... rain will briefly turn to sleet before becoming all snow after midnight for areas east of the Highway 65 corridor.
* Snow accumulation... a snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected with locally higher amounts possible.
* Winds and visibility... strong northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph are possible as the cold front passes across the area. These strong winds will most likely produce blowing and drifting snow with visibilities reduced to near one quarter of a mile at times.
* Impacts... travel conditions Christmas eve and Christmas day could be significantly impacted across parts of central and south central Missouri. Significantly reduced visibilities are expected with high winds and blowing and drifting snow anticipated. Travel conditions will rapidly deteriorate this evening into the overnight hours.
