A large area of rain with embedded strong thunderstorms...will continue to move northeast across the midsouth this afternoon. Heavy downpours associated with the thunderstorms can easily produce an inch of rain in a half of an hour. This will certainly cause ponding of water on the roadways...with small creeks and streams filling rapidly. In addition...there will be multiple strong cells training over the same locations...allowing for widespread one to two inches of rain for the majority of the midsouth through 3 PM CST. As of 1 PM CST...the leading edge of the precipitation was near a Malden Missouri...New Salem Mississippi line...and should be near a Puryear Tennessee...Iuka Mississippi line between 2 and 230 PM CST.
