	Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 6:24 PM CST on December 23, 2009 ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Saturday... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST Saturday. * Timing... snow will continue tonight through Christmas night. * Accumulations... significant amounts of snow will occur with periods of heavy snow likely as the storm intensifies Thursday afternoon into Friday. Snow amounts by Thursday morning of two to five inches are expected. Total snowfall accumulations by Saturday morning will likely exceed one foot in many areas... with scattered totals from 15 to 20 inches probable. * Mixed precipitation... periods of sleet are probable and possibly freezing rain during this storm... primarily Thursday and Thursday night. * Surface visibility will be reduced as the event continues due to increasing wind speeds and blowing snow. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous... and the potential for sleet and freezing rain could exacerbate conditions. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
