... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM CDT this evening...
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM CDT this evening.
West winds will shift to the northwest between 25 to 35 mph... with gusts to 45 mph this afternoon into early evening across all of eastern North Dakota... northwest and west central Minnesota. Winds will increase in the Devils Lake basin by 1 PM... then strong winds will quickly progress south and east into the southern Red River valley by mid afternoon. Areas of blowing dust are also possible in the Red River valley... and visibilities may be briefly reduced down to one mile in open areas. Winds will quickly subside around sunset as high pressure builds into the area.
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or frequent gusts to 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
