* at 350 PM CDT... emergency management and local law enforcement
continued to report areal flooding... with multiple reports of ice
jams resulting in flooded roads. Numerous County and township
roads remain closed. Conditions do seem to be improving and
water levels are beginning to recede... but additional
drainage is expected and the potential for more ice jams remains.
* In addition to rural areas... some other locations that
will experience flooding include New Ulm... St James... Blue
Earth... New Richland... Springfield... Henderson...
Mapleton... Waseca... Janesville... New
Germany... Winnebago... Watertown and Mayer.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Runoff from snow melt and ice jams will cause flooding of
small creeks and streams... country roads... as well as farmland along
the banks of creeks and streams.
To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office in the
Twin Cities.

the Minnesota river at Savage.
* At 11:00 am Wednesday the stage was 699.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 702.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow afternoon March 18th and
continue to rise to near 710.6 feet by Thursday morning March 25th.
Additional rises are possible therafter.
* Impact... at 710.0 feet... protection of city sanitary sewers may be
necessary.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Minnesota river at Shakopee.
* Flood stage is 708.0 feet.
* Flood history... this level compares to a previous crest of 717.4
feet on Apr 29 2001.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage Thursday evening
March 18th and continue rising to near 716.7 feet overnight
Monday night March 22nd then hold steady. Additional rises are
possible thereafter.
* Impacts... at 714.0 feet... Highway 41 at Chaska has water encroaching
and at 710 ft Hwy 101 is inundated.

the Minnesota river near Jordan.
* At 11:00 am Wednesday the stage was 25.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 30.3 feet by
Monday evening March 22nd then begin falling. Additional rises are
possible.
* Impact... at 28.5 feet... Highway 41 at Chaska may close when the
river reaches this stage.
* Flood history... this level compares to a previous crest of 32.2 feet
on Apr 29 2001.

* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 732.0 feet.

Sunday morning March 21st then begin falling. Additional rises are
possible.
* Flood history... this level compares to a previous crest of 737.9
feet on Apr 11 1997.
