... Blizzard watch in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday
The National Weather Service in Aberdeen has issued a blizzard
watch... which is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday
* Timing... blizzard conditions are expected by late Tuesday
* Winds/visibility... north to northwest winds of 20 to 35 mph with
gusts to at least 45 mph could produce quarter mile or less
visibility in falling and blowing snow.
* Snow/ice accumulations... 2 to 4 inches of snow with locally
higher amounts are possible.
A blizzard watch means there is a potential for blowing and
falling snow... that in combination with strong winds could create
extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to whiteout conditions
and make travel very dangerous.

... Snow and gusty northwesterly winds expected Monday night
A low pressure system will bring snowfall to the region Monday
night through Tuesday. Accumulating snowfall of 2 to 4 inches will
be possible from central South Dakota... to northeastern South
Dakota and western Minnesota. The heaviest snowfall could occur
during the morning commute on Tuesday. While there is still quite
a bit of uncertainty as to where the band of heaviest snowfall
will set up... strong northwesterly winds are likely Tuesday
through Tuesday night. The strong winds could cause areas of
blowing and drifting snow with reduction in visibilities.
