	Lake Effect Snow Advisory
Statement as of 3:00 PM EST on December 15, 2009 ... Lake effect Snow Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST Wednesday... The National Weather Service in Marquette has continued a lake effect Snow Advisory... which remains in effect until 10 am EST Wednesday. * Expect lake effect snow showers late this afternoon and evening to impact locations near Lake Superior east of Pictured Rocks. These snow showers will tend to spread farther inland toward Melstrand and Newberry after midnight tonight. * Look for an additional 2 to 6 inches of snow from late today into Wednesday morning across areas east of Munising... with the greater amounts most likely at Grand Marais... Two Heart... and Pine Stump Junction. Any snowfall west of Munising will be less than inch. * Wind gusts to 30 mph near Lake Superior east of Munising this evening will cause blowing snow in open areas. * The main impacts will be snow covered... slippery roads and limited visibilities in the heavier snow showers. Visibility will be reduced as low as half a mile at times in open areas near Lake Superior east of Munising where there is blowing snow this evening. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A lake effect Snow Advisory Means Lake-effect snow is forecast that will make travel difficult in some areas. Lake-effect snow showers typically align themselves in bands and will likely be intense enough to drop several inches in localized areas. Use caution when traveling. Kc
