Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 5:00 AM EDT on April 16, 2014

...Flood Warning remains in effect for Roscommon...Oscoda...Ogemaw... Missaukee...Manistee...Kalkaska...Gladwin...Crawford...Benzie... Iosco...Wexford...Alcona...Arenac and Grand Traverse counties until 500 PM EDT Wednesday...

Rivers and streams continue to run high across the area as water from recent heavy rains works downstream. While widespread flooding will be decreasing through today...flooding of low lands and areas near streams and rivers will persist.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross bridges...dips...or other low spots if water covers the roadway. Never try to cross a flowing stream...even a small one...on foot or in a vehicle.

Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.
