a record snowfall of a trace was set at Marquette mi today. This
ties the old record of trace set in 1992. This also ranks as the 8th
latest snowfall on record. The latest snowfall on record is a trace
that occurred on June 3rd 1990.

Weather records for the Marquette National Weather Service office
located in Negaunee township date back to 1961.

... Cold with above normal precipitation and snow in February-April...

The persistence of an upper trough over central and eastern North
America resulted in a chilly... active weather pattern over the upper
Great Lakes from the middle of January through April. Many locations
across Upper Michigan saw a top 10 wettest and snowiest February
through April period... with precipitation and snowfall as much as
200 percent or more of the 30-year normal. Record February through
April snow fell on Munising in 2013. The 109.5 inches that
accumulated there from 2/1 through 4/30 is over 50 inches above the
30-year average and about 3 inches more than the previous record
total that fell during this same period in 2002. A few places also
experienced a top 10 coldest February through April... with the mean
3-monthly temperatures running 2 to as much as 6 degrees below
normal.
