Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, May 26, 2013.

Expect more severe showers and thunderstorms to develop over the High Plains again on Sunday, stretching into the Central Plains and Mississippi River Valley. A low pressure system continues spinning over the region as is slowly moves off the Rockies and into the Plains. Flow around this system will continue to create a warm front that stretches from eastern Montana through Nebraska and into the Mid-Mississippi River Valley. The heaviest rainfall and strongest storms are most likely to develop from southeastern Montana and northeastern Wyoming through northeastern Nebraska, moving into western Iowa Sunday night. These areas may see large hail and isolated tornadoes. Another region of heavy rainfall with scattered thunderstorms will develop just east of this system, starting the day over Iowa and Illinois, moving eastward into the Midwest and Lower Ohio River Valley by Sunday night.

In the Southern Plains, heavy rainfall will continue winding down on Sunday for Texas. However, the combination of onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico and a wave of low pressure will continue triggering rain showers from southern Texas through Oklahoma. This will allow for flooding to remain a concern, especially for the San Antonio area.

Out West, a trough of low pressure moves over the Pacific Northwest, bringing scattered showers to Washington and Oregon on Sunday. Some moisture from this system will reach into northern California and northern Nevada, bringing a few light rain showers Sunday afternoon into Monday.

Areal Flood Watch
Mobile & Email Alerts Statement as of 10:21 PM EDT on May 25, 2013

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Maine... north central Maine...
northern Maine... southeast Maine and west central Maine...
including the following areas... in east central Maine...
central Penobscot... northern Penobscot and southern Penobscot.
In north central Maine... central Piscataquis... northern
Piscataquis and southern Piscataquis. In northern Maine...
northeast Aroostook... Northwest Aroostook and southeast
Aroostook. In southeast Maine... central Washington... interior
Hancock and northern Washington. In west central Maine...
northern Somerset.

* Through Sunday morning

* rainfall of 1.5 to 3.5 inches has been observed across the area
during the past several days with locally higher amounts.
Additional rainfall of up to one inch is possible overnight into
Sunday... with the highest amounts across the hilly upslope areas
of central and northern Maine.

* The ground is already saturated in many areas... and the
additional heavy rainfall may cause smaller streams and creeks
to overflow their banks. Ponding of water is also expected on
roadways... and standing water is expected in low spots. Any
culverts that are plugged with debris may also flood. Main
Stem rivers are expected to see significant rises... but are
not expected to flood at this time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
