Statement as of 10:07 PM EST on December 21, 2009 ... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening... A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening. An unusual winter storm threatens the eastern half of Maine with possibly heavy snow accumulations Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday. The potential exists for 10 inches or more of snow Tuesday night into early Wednesday. It is expected that the heaviest area of snow will be in a relatively narrow band oriented northwest to southeast across north central Maine. A lot of uncertainty remains concerning the exact track and timing of this system. Variation in this track may shift expected snowfall totals northward or southward. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. |
