... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night...
The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm Watch... which is in effect from Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night.
Along the coast from Portland to Rockland... snow is expected to develop during the morning hours Wednesday... and fall heavily at times Wednesday afternoon. Along the immediate coast... as temperatures warm above the freezing mark... the snow may change to rain. The change will take longer further away from the shore... generally north of Route 1... .but by late afternoon all areas should see the snow change to rain. More than 6 inches of snow is possible before the change to rain.
As the precipitation becomes lighter Wednesday night... it may fall in the form of rain... .freezing rain or sleet. This will depend on surface temperatures... but little additional snowfall is expected after Wednesday evening.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
