Statement as of 3:33 AM EST on November 27, 2014

...Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 am EST this morning...

* hazard types...snow.

* Accumulations...an additional inch or two is possible....especially in the western Maine mountains.

* Timing...snow will end around or shortly after daybreak.

* Impacts...widespread power outages are being reported. Additional outages are possible....especially through early morning as winds continue to gust to around 30 mph.

* Winds...north 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures...in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight... food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

If you plan on using a portable generator...be sure to observe all safety precautions to avoid Carbon monoxide poisoning... electrocution...or fire. Be sure to operate your generator in a dry outdoor area away from windows...doors and vents. Carbon monoxide poisoning deaths can occur due to improperly located portable generators!
