...The Flood Warning remains in effect until 345 PM EDT for urban areas and small streams in northwestern Washington...northern Penobscot and Piscataquis counties...
**a Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. However...all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.**
Although colder temperatures have slowed the snowmelt from yesterday...flooding continues across the warning area. Rivers are still running high from the recent rainfall...and several roads remain closed. These include but are not limited to:
In Piscataquis county:
River Road and Elliot Road in Willimantic Brockway Road bridge in Sangerville pleasant street and River Road in Milo
In Penobscot county:
Half township Road in West Lincoln Main Street in Dexter
In Washington county:
Route 6 near Lambert Lake Route 169 between Danforth and Springfield
Many other roads are either partially or totally closed due to flooding. Please remember...you should never cross a flooded Road. Obey all Road closure signs and do not drive around or move barricades. Persons are urged to stay away from all flooded rivers and streams.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
