Nowcast | as of 8:43 PM EST on March 3, 2015

Mostly a freezing rain to plain rain transition is expected through the evening hours. Temperatures in some spots have risen to at or above freezing at this hour across southern New Jersey, the Delmarva, and portions of the Philadelphia Metro area. Expecting a few hundredths to a tenth of an inch of ice more this evening before we warm enough for all rain. Ground temperatures may still be cold enough in spots for continued icing threat, even as temperatures rise above freezing.

Statement as of 9:51 PM EST on March 03, 2015

... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Wednesday night
through Thursday evening...
... Winter Weather Advisory is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has cancelled the
Winter Weather Advisory.

* Locations... portions of marylands Eastern Shore... central
Delaware and far southern New Jersey.

* Hazard types... snow... sleet and freezing rain.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... four to 8 inches of snow possible
later Wednesday night and Thursday. The amount of snow accumulation
will depend on how quickly the rain changes to snow and if sleet
lasts longer during the transition.

* Timing... rain Wednesday evening should change to snow...
possibly heavy at times... late Wednesday night or Thursday
morning and continue through late Thursday.

* Impacts... slippery conditions may linger on a few untreated
surfaces overnight. There is strong potential for significant
travel impacts late Wednesday night and Thursday.

* Temperatures... near freezing during the predawn hours Thursday
falling through the 20s during the day Thursday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow and sleet accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to
monitor the latest forecasts.
