Calvert County in southern Maryland
* until 1030 PM EST
* at 426 PM EST... radar indicated an area of very heavy rain over
the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and the Delmarva Peninsula. This
area of heavy rainfall will move into Calvert County through 6
PM... resulting in around another inch of rainfall.
Some locations that will continue to be affected by the heavy rain
include Chesapeake Beach... Dunkirk... Lusby... North Beach... Prince
Frederick... Calvert Cliffs... Cuckold Creek... Plum Point... Saint
Leonard creek and Sheridan Point.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a coastal Flood Warning... which is in effect until 6 am
EST Friday. The coastal Flood Advisory is no longer in effect. A
coastal Flood Watch remains in effect from Friday morning through
late Friday night.
Moderate tidal flooding is expected along the Shores of Calvert
and Saint Marys counties tonight. Tidal departures up to 3 feet
can be expected. In relation to the high tide late this morning...
high tide tonight should be about a half foot higher... with
another half foot increase expected for the Friday morning high
tide. Communities around Coltons Point and Saint Georges island
in St Marys... and low lying around around Solomons Island in
Calvert are some of the areas expected to have significant
flooding impacts. Flooding impacts will likely persist during
times of high tide into the weekend.

for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life
