Wind Advisory
Statement as of 3:26 AM EST on November 12, 2009
... Wind Advisory in effect until 9 PM EST this evening...
The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect until 9 PM EST this evening.
The combination of strong high pressure over the Great Lakes and
northern New England... and low pressure moving northeast along
the Carolina coast will result in a continuation of gusty
northeast winds today into this evening. These winds... from
interior sections of the lower Maryland Eastern Shore... to
interior eastern... central and south central Virginia... and
interior northeast North Carolina 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 to
45 mph into this evening. The winds will gradually weaken today
through Friday as the high pressure system moves northeast into
the northern Atlantic... and the area of low pressure begins to
move east... and out to sea.
Gusty winds and saturated ground may cause downed trees... and also
result in scattered power outages.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for
high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
