Strong northerly winds on the back side of a low pressure system moving northeast off the Delmarva... following the prolonged period of strong south to southeast flow yesterday... will continue to result in rising water levels over portions of Chesapeake Bay and adjoining tributaries. Tidal departures will continue between 2 and 3 feet above normal today. This will lead to moderate to severe flooding around the times of high tide this morning... with minor to moderate flooding then persisting later this morning through the afternoon.
A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water... and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
