... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 3 PM to 7 PM EST
Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 3 PM to 7 PM EST
Wednesday. This coastal Flood Advisory includes the Massachusetts
East Coast from Newburyport to Plymouth as well as portions of the
Outer Cape cod coast.

Strong east to southeast winds will generate a storm surge of 1.5 to 2
feet... and waves of 10 to 15 feet offshore along the Massachusetts
East Coast. This will set the stage for minor coastal flooding.

Provincetown Harbor may be a special case. Little surge is expected
through most of the day... but once the wind shifts to the south there
could be a sudden jump to 1.5 feet or so and onshore winds that could
provide splash over along the immediate Harbor shore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory is issued for minor coastal flooding of
the most vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to the
height of storm tide or wave splashover. The majority of roads
remain passable with only isolated closures. There is no
significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal.



All tide heights are relative to mean lower low water.
Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.

... High wind watch remains in effect from Wednesday morning
through Wednesday afternoon...

A high wind watch remains in effect from Wednesday morning
through Wednesday afternoon.

This high wind watch includes Cape Cod... Marthas Vineyard and
Nantucket.

East to southeast winds may gust as high as 60 mph Wednesday. The
strongest wind should occur between 10 am and 2 PM. These winds may
be strong enough to cause damage to trees and power lines... as well
as causing property damage.

Once we are a bit more certain regarding peak winds on Wednesday... the
watch will be converted to a warning or advisory.

No matter... Wednesday is going to be a nasty day to be out and about
and considerable caution is urged. There is even a slight chance of a
thunderstorm late in the day.

Winds will turn southeast and diminish for a time late in the day and
then shift to southwest. Its likely that winds will gust to at least
45 mph Wednesday night and there is small chance of 55 mph gusts
toward 10 PM Wednesday.

winds to develop. Take action now to secure any loose items
outdoors.
