Statement as of 10:52 PM EDT on July 11, 2009 At 1045 PM EDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of heavy showers and isolated strong thunderstorms with the potential to produce wind gusts to 30 mph along a line extending from from 3 miles southwest of Hampton New Hampshire to 7 miles north of Beverly to 8 miles southeast of Framingham to 10 miles south of Worcester to 9 miles east of Norwich to 6 miles south of Southold... moving east at 35 mph. * Some locations affected include... Sterling... Essex... Beverly... Salem... Manchester... Dorchester... Exeter... Rockport... Hopkinton... West Greenwich... Coventry... Gloucester... Scituate... Sherborn... westerly... Smithfield... West Warwick... Richmond... Cranston... Johnston... North Providence... East Greenwich... Providence... Warwick... Roslindale... Central Falls... Pawtucket... Charlestown... East Providence... Boston and Allston These storms will be affecting the Interstate 95 corridor from Newburyport to the Boston Providence Metro areas as well as much of the remainder of Rhode Island between now and 1145 PM. The heaviest rains appear to be tracking toward bostons southwest suburbs into much of northern and central Rhode Island. For your safety... get inside when these storms approach. Heavy rain may cause minor street flooding as well as ponding of water in poor drainage areas. Do not drive through flooded areas. Several storms are producing cloud to ground lightning strikes.
