... Wind Advisory in effect from 11 am to 5 PM EST Friday...
The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 11 am to 5 PM EST Friday.
Low pressure developing off the Carolinas Thursday afternoon will rapidly intensify into a gale center east of Nantucket early Friday... then move north into Maine Friday night. East to northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph are likely Friday morning across the advisory area as the low approaches Nantucket.
Winds will then shift to the west to northwest during the afternoon and increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Winds of this magnitude will likely bring down some small tree limbs and possibly result in scattered power outages.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds this strong are capable of Downing small tree limbs and branches... possibly causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult... especially for high profile vehicles.
