Through 8 PM...a few showers and strong thunderstorms will develop and move southwest at 10 mph across portions of southeast Texas...as well southwest and south central Louisiana. The strongest storms will be located over Beauregard and Calcasieu parishes...roughly from Singer to de Quincy to the Westlake and Sulphur areas. Frequent lightning...wind gusts to 25 mph...and heavy rainfall with rates around one inch per hour will be possible in these areas. Elsewhere...a few showers and thunderstorms will move southwest at 10 knots over the coastal waters 20 to 30 nm offshore between Marsh Island and the lower Atchafalaya River.

Flood Warning extended until Tuesday morning... the Flood Warning continues for the Atchafalaya River at Morgan City. * Until Tuesday morning... or until the warning is cancelled. * At 10:00 am Thursday the stage was 4.1 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 4.0 feet. * Forecast... the river is expected to fall below flood stage by early next week and hover around or just below flood stage thereafter. * Impact... at 4.0 feet... water will move up the bank and across access roads below the city dock. Floodwall gates should be closed by the 5 foot stage to protect against higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly enforced by the U. S. Coast Guard * impact... at 4.0 feet... the impact on river side Industry will lessen as the river begins to recede.
