... Concerning Toledo Bend Reservoir water releases...
Persons having an interest in the Sabine River basin below the Reservoir are hereby advised that on Monday November 9... 2009 at 7:15 am... the Reservoir elevation was 172.71 feet. Currently... no generators are operating. The process of lowering the spillway gates continues and at 7:15 am... eleven spillway gates are opened at two feet each for a total discharge of twenty-two thousand cubic feet per second.
Releases through the spillway gates... depending on upstream and downstream conditions... will be made in accordance with the guide for spillway gate operations for Toledo Bend Reservoir.
The local sheriff's offices... as well as the Toledo Bend project offices at the dam site will be able to give the latest reported river stages and river forecasts received from the National Weather Service.
Up to date Reservoir elevations and releases may be obtained from the Toledo Bend project offices on a 24 hours a day basis at 3 3 7 2 8 6 5 2 5 3 or 4 0 9 5 6 5 2 2 7 3.
Toledo Bend is not a flood control Reservoir... and can experience significant rises in elevation in a short period of time span... as much as one to two feet in a 24 to 36 hour period.
