Nowcast | as of 7:50 am CST on March 5, 2015

Through 10 am...periods of rain...with isolated thunderstorms...with temperatures in the 30s and north winds north winds gusting to 30 mph...will continue across the area. The majority of the activity will be northwest of a Sabine Pass to Marksville line. Also...sleet will mix in with the rain from north of a Spurger to De Ridder to Oakdale to Opelousas line. Surface temperatures are expected to fall to freezing for northern parts of Vernon...Rapides and Avoyelles Parish. This will allow some light accumulation of the sleet in grassy areas...and a change over to freezing rain with a very light glazing of ice on elevated surfaces. Otherwise...surface temperatures across the remainder of the area are expected to remain above freezing during this time frame with no significant accumulation of sleet or ice.
