The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
central and southeastern Lafourche Parish in southeastern
Louisiana...
Terrebonne Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* until 515 am CDT

* at 311 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory
area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen... and an
additional two to three inches of rain is possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Houma... Galliano... cut off... LaRose... Golden Meadow... Dulac...
Montegut... Leeville... Cocodrie... Chauvin... and Bayou Cane.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

The Baptist... St. Tammany... upper Jefferson... upper

* Through Saturday evening

* isolated thunderstorms are possible across the area this
afternoon with locally heavy rainfall possible. A larger area
of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move across
southern Mississippi and southeast Louisiana late tonight and
during the day on Saturday. This complex of thunderstorms is
expected to be the main threat of heavy rain over the next 24
to 36 hours. Many areas are completely saturated. One to three
inches of rain could fall in heavier storms... with locally
higher amounts.

* Areas that see heavy rainfall within a short time could
receive flood water to depths that would impact property and
people in those areas. Area creeks... streams and rivers are
also likely to experience rises... and some may rise to
bankfull or flood levels over the next several days.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rainfall that may lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a
very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Statement as of 3:21 AM CDT on April 18, 2015

... A line of strong thunderstorms will affect southeastern
Lafourche... Terrebonne... lower Plaquemines and central and lower
Jefferson parishes...

At 318 am CDT... a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line
extending from 10 miles west of Dulac to Galliano... and moving east
at 35 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with these
storms.

Locations impacted include...
Houma... Galliano... cut off... LaRose... Golden Meadow... Dulac...
Montegut... LaFitte... Leeville... Cocodrie... Chauvin... Barataria...
and Grand Isle.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms... and may
cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 15 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
