... Results of the damage survey in Sevier and Hempstead counties in Arkansas and McCurtain County in Oklahoma from storms that occurred on Saturday may 10 2008...
The National Weather Service office in Shreveport Louisiana concluded that 1 EF1 tornado and 2 EF0 tornadoes occurred on Saturday may 10 across southern Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma.
An EF1 tornado with winds of 85 to 95 mph occurred on the north side of the town of dequeen Arkansas. The main track paralleled west Robinson Road west of US Hwy 71 north. Numerous large trees were snapped and uprooted including several that fell on homes. Several trees also fell in the town of dequeen mainly along altena street in association with straight line winds from the same tornadic storm. The tornado was on the ground from 755 PM until 758 PM and was 100 yards wide at its widest point and 1.5 miles long ending just east of Hwy 71.
An EF0 tornado with winds of 65 to 70 mph occurred on the northeast side of hope Arkansas. The tornado touched down in a field southeast of Hwy 29 north. Several small trees and limbs were snapped. Damage also occurred to the roof of a metal farm building just west of County Road 248. The tornado was on the ground from 904 PM until 906 PM and was 50 yards wide and 1 mile long ending just east of County Road 248.
An EF0 tornado with winds of 70 to 80 mph occurred in the uninhabited area west of Smithville Oklahoma. The tornado clipped several trees on a ridge top 3.5 miles southwest of Smithville. Several small trees and limbs were also snapped. The tornado was on the ground from 705 PM until 706 PM and was 50 yards wide and 0.25 miles long.
