The Flood Warning continues for
the Amite river at French Settlement.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:30 PM Thursday the stage was 4.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 4.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is expected to crest at 5.5 feet by Saturday
evening but may flucuate due to tidal influences through Saturday
night.
* Impact... at 4.5 feet... backwater flooding will isolate fishing
camps. Low lying roads in the Maurepas area will be impassable.
Louisiana trace will be impassable.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Amite river at Port Vincent.
* From Friday morning to late Sunday night... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 8:15 PM Thursday the stage was 6.5 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is expected to rise above flood stage by tomorrow
morning and continue to rise to near 11.0 feet by Saturday early afternoon.
The river will fall below flood stage by Sunday before midnight.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... increased flow and strong current will
affect river traffic. Grays Creek and the Main Channel of the Amite
will merge and Saint Amant Swamp will be inundated. Streets will
flood in Port Vincent. There will be minor flooding of residential
areas.
