Statement as of 5:37 AM CST on December 18, 2009 ... Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity... The Flood Warning continues for the Tangipahoa river near Robert. * Until late Monday night... or until the warning is cancelled. * At 4:30 am Friday the stage was 17.8 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * The flood stage is 15.0 feet. * Forecast... the river is expected to continue rising to near 18.5 feet by tomorrow early afternoon. * Impact... at 18.0 feet... evacuation of trailers at Hidden Oaks must be completed. Water covers the entrance to Camp Grounds. Secondary roads and unimproved roads north of Robert will flood as chappepeela creek backs up. Low places on Highway 22 south of Robert will be under water. 534 am CST Fri Dec 18 2009 The National Weather Service in New Orleans/Baton Rouge has issued a... * Flood Warning for the Natalbany river near Baptist. * From this afternoon to late tonight... or until the warning is cancelled. * At 2:30 am Friday the stage was 12.0 feet. * Minor flooding is forecast. * The flood stage is 16.0 feet. * Forecast... the river is expected to rise to near flood stage this afternoon. * Impact... at 16.0 feet... the bridge on Highway 1040 will become impassable with water over the roadway on the west end of the bridge. |

Statement as of 01:03 am CST on December 18, 2009 ... Record daily maximum rainfall set at Baton Rouge regional Airport... a record rainfall of 2.41 inch(es) was set at Baton Rouge ASOS yesterday. This breaks the old record of 2.35 set in 1961. |
