Statement as of 10:50 AM CDT on May 23, 2013

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River at Baton Rouge.
* Until further notice.
* At 9:00 am Thursday the stage was 35.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is cresting.
* Impact... at 35.0 feet... river islands from Red River Landing
downstream to Baton Rouge will be inundated.

Statement as of 5:01 PM CDT on May 23, 2013

... Cluster of strong thunderstorms moving northwest affecting West
Baton Rouge Parish... Pointe Coupee Parish... West Feliciana Parish...
Iberville Parish...

At 459 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
cluster of strong thunderstorms 7 miles northeast of Melville... or
about 4 miles southwest of Batchelor... moving southeast at 5 mph.

The cluster of strong thunderstorms will affect areas in and
around... Batchelor

The primary threats from these storms are frequent lightning... pea to
dime size hail... and wind gusts to near 40 mph... which could down
tree limbs and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a
safe home or building until these storms have passed.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If outdoors... stay
away from isolated high objects such as trees. Move indoors if
possible. When indoors... stay away from windows and doors and avoid
using telephones unless it is an emergency. Try to unplug unnecessary
electrical appliances before the thunderstorm approaches.
