... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to
6 am EST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon
to 6 am EST Sunday.

* Rain will overspread the area during the day. The rain is expected
to mix with and change to snow during the late afternoon hours on
the ridgetops. The precipitation should then change to all snow in
the valleys during the evening. Snow may fall heavy at times tonight
before tapering to lighter snow Saturday into Saturday night.

* Accumulations from late this afternoon to early Sunday morning are
expected to be between 4 to 7 inches across much of the warned
area.

* Travel will likely become hazardous across the warned area this
evening and overnight with snow and slush covered roads. The heavy
wet snow can also bring down trees and power lines making power
outages a possibility.

* Keep in mind that slight changes in the track of this system may
have impacts on snow accumulations across eastern Kentucky.
