... National safe boating week...
This year National safe boating week which begins today will run through Friday may 23... and is scheduled each year as the first full week before the Memorial Day weekend.
Throughout the upcoming week... the National Weather Service in cooperation with the United States Coast Guard auxiliary and the United States power squadron will issue National safe boating week messages. These messages will be issued as public information statements... with new information available each day. These messages can also be heard on NOAA Weather Radio every 30 minutes... and are also available on our web site at...
This years theme for National safe boating week is... you are in command. Boat responsibly.
The North American safe boating Campaign which began in 1957 is still prospering today. It continues to spread the message of safe boating... encourages boater education and helps to save lives.
There are many ways in which you can become involved in the safe boating Campaign...
You can encourage people who boat to wear their life jacket at all times when on the water.
If you are a boater... consider taking a safe boating course.
Before going out get a safety check for your vessel.
Remember to follow the proper navigation rules when on the water.
Never boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Be alert and be aware when you are on the water. Remember that safe boating can save lives... including your own.
Be with US again tomorrow as National safe boating week continues.
