Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 2:35 AM CST on March 05, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST early
this morning...

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST early
this morning.

* Timing: moderate to heavy snow will continue through the early
morning hours. The snows will taper off from northwest to
southeast through daybreak.

* Main impact: snow accumulations will generally range from 6 to
12 inches across the region... but isolated totals to 15 inches
may be possible. Gusty north winds will cause significant snow
drifts.

* Other impacts: roads throughout the region have become slick
and hazardous. Travel is strongly discouraged tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow and
sleet are expected or occurring. Gusty winds are also possible.
This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

Special Statement
Statement as of 3:01 AM CST on March 05, 2015

... Interstate 24 from mile marker 16 to 24 is closed...

Due to heavy snows in western Kentucky... widespread 6 to 12 inch
snowfall amounts have wreaked havoc to area travel. Isolated 15
inch amounts... with snow still falling... have been reported.

The result has been nearly impassable Road conditions. Marshall
County Ema reports Interstate 24 is closed between mile markers 16
and 24 in Marshall County. It is likely to remain closed into the
early daylight hours as crews attempt to clear the roadway of over
one foot of snow... with higher drifts.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for much of western
Kentucky... including the pennyrile region... through 6 am.

This is a dangerous storm situation and travel should be avoided
if at all possible.
