... High Wind Warning in effect from 4 am to 10 PM EST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a High Wind
Warning... which is in effect from 4 am to 10 PM EST Wednesday.

* Timing: southerly winds will increase late tonight. A line of
showers... and perhaps a few thunderstorms... will accompany a cold
front into the area towards dawn. Any showers or thunderstorms
will likely contain strong... damaging wind gusts. Strong and
potentially damaging winds will then shift to the southwest and
continue for several hours behind the front on Wednesday.

* Winds: gusts up to 60 mph will be possible with any showers or
thunderstorms late tonight and early Wednesday morning. Sustained
winds from the southwest will then increase to between 25 and 35
mph behind the front on Wednesday. Gusts up to 60 mph are expected
for a several hour period behind the front... likely extending into
the early afternoon hours. Wind speeds will then gradually subside
through the afternoon and evening... but gusts up to 50 mph will
remain likely into the early evening hours.

* Impacts: tree damage is highly likely with winds of this magnitude
after rainfall late today and tonight saturates the soil. The
falling trees will likely down power lines... resulting in the
possibility of prolonged power outages. Damage to structures and
unsecured objects and property is also possible. Drivers of high-
profile vehicles on north-to-south roadways... such as US 23 and
Interstate 75... may also have extreme difficulty on Wednesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
