Statement as of 4:00 AM EDT on July 06, 2009 ... Dense fog advisory in effect until 10 am EDT this morning... The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a dense fog advisory... which is in effect until 10 am EDT this morning. A moist ground... light winds and clearing skies have allowed areas of fog to form early this morning... especially in areas north of the mountain parkway. This fog will become dense during the pre dawn hours with visibilities down near zero at times. Expect the fog to lift by 10 am EDT. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down... use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Statement as of 3:25 am EDT on July 06, 2009 ... Record minimum high temperature set at Jackson KY... On July 5th... the high temperature at the Jackson weather office was 69 degrees. This breaks the previous daily minimum high temperature record of 71 degrees set back in 2006. Weather records for the Jackson weather office date back to 1981.
