The first significant winter precipitation event of the season may
impact southwest Kansas Sunday... Sunday night... and perhaps into
Monday. This storm will have a plentiful source of Gulf of Mexico
moisture... as well as a cold enough air mass to support snow.
Given the anticipated strength of this storm... strong north winds
will likely accompany snowfall across western Kansas. It is too
early to determine just how much snow may fall with this storm and
who will receive the brunt of the storm... however significant
accumulations could be possible across southwest Kansas given an
optimal track of the low center through West Texas and western
Oklahoma. Stay tuned to updated forecast information regarding
this upcoming winter weather situation.
