Statement as of 3:53 AM CDT on July 10, 2009 ... Heat advisory in effect from 2 PM to 5 PM CDT this afternoon... The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a heat advisory... which is in effect from 2 PM to 5 PM CDT this afternoon. Temperatures are forecast in the 105 to 108 degree range during the peak of the afternoon. These hot temperatures combined with high relative humidities will produce heat indices between 107 and 112 degrees. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors.
