	Heat Advisory
Statement as of 9:59 AM CDT on July 10, 2009 ... Heat advisory in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening... The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a heat advisory... which is in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening. High temperatures this afternoon will likely range from the upper 90s to near 100 degrees over portions of east-central and southeast Kansas... to the low to mid 100s over portions of south-central Kansas... and southern portions of central Kansas. This heat will combine with relatively higher dewpoints across the area to create dangerous heat indices at or exceeding 105 degrees for a time this afternoon and evening... especially across south-central and southeast Kansas. Heat indices for most locations across central Kansas will likely remain a tad lower in the 100 to 104 degree range. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create conditions where heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids and stay in an air-conditioned room if possible. Stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors. Adk
