744 am CDT sun may 24 2015

... A Flood Warning for small streams remains in effect until 130 PM
CDT Sunday for Cowley and Sumner counties...

At 742 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated most of the heavy rainfall
had ended across the region. However... excessive runoff from the
widespread 2 to 4 inches of rain that occurred across the area
yesterday will continue to cause areas of street flooding... flooding
of various County roads and low-lying areas... as well as flooding
along the banks of streams and creeks into at least this afternoon.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Arkansas City... Winfield... Wellington... Caldwell... Oxford...
Argonia... South Haven... Dexter... Geuda Springs... Mayfield... Milan...
Hunnewell... Perth... Maple City and Strother Field Airport.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:53 AM CDT on May 24, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Kansas and south central Kansas...
including the following areas... in central Kansas... Chase. In
south central Kansas... Butler... Cowley... Sedgwick and Sumner.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon.

* Another round of showers and thunderstorms is possible this
morning. Given saturated grounds... anything more than a passing
light shower will likely result in renewed flooding or
exacerbate existing flooding. Minor flooding is also forecast on
several rivers across the area.

* Those with outdoor plans along creeks and rivers need to monitor
the weather situation closely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Remember to turn around... don't drown.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
