Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 12:36 PM CDT on March 20, 2010
... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Sunday...
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Sunday.
* Timing... a mix of sleet and snow will transition to all snow in
the early morning hours. Snow... locally heavy at times... will
fall from Saturday morning through Sunday morning.
* Total snow accumulations... snow accumulations of 6 to 8 inches
or greater is expected in the warning area. Rates of an inch an
hour or more are possible.
* Winds... north winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph
will be possible early Saturday morning through Sunday
morning.
* Impacts... heavy snow combined with strong winds Saturday through
Sunday morning will reduce visibilities and make for extremely
hazardous travel conditions as snow blows across roadways.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Wintry precipitation will accumulate in the affected areas
causing hazardous driving conditions. Those with travel plans are
advised to choose an alternate Route... or should use extreme
caution if travel is unavoidable.
