Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:32 PM CDT on May 23, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Kansas and south central Kansas...
including the following areas... in central Kansas... Chase and
Marion. In south central Kansas... Butler... Cowley... Harvey...
Sedgwick and Sumner.

* Through Sunday afternoon.

* Another round of showers and thunderstorms is possible late
tonight into Sunday. Storm total rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches
is expected in the watch area. With grounds already
saturated... any additional rainfall will go into runoff and will
likely result in flooding. Main-Stem rivers will likely
experience significant rises with a few going into flood.

* Those with outdoor plans along creeks and rivers need to
monitor the weather situation closely this weekend.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Remember to turn around... don't drown.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
